A large part of Company E, of this regiment, was from Carbon County.  This was a three years’ regiment, the men being mustered in in September, 1861, and many of them re-enlisting and not being mustered out

until the discharge of the regiment at the close of the war.

McClelland, John     Cpl.                 Enlisted Sept. 1861.  Re-enlisted and served to war's end.

Doyle, Peter                          Enlisted Sept. 1861.  Killed at Fredericksburg, Dec. 13, 1862.

 

Elliot, Condy                        Re-enlisted and served to war's end.

 

Fitzgerald, James                 Enlisted Sept. 1861.  Died in Washington, DC hospital March 10, 1862.

 

Gill, Peter                              Discharged on disability.

 

Heenan, Michael                  Enlisted Sept. 1861.  Killed in battle of Fredericksburg, Dec. 13, 1862.

 

Meighan, John J.                   Transferred to 1st U.S. Cavalry in 1862.

 

McLaughlin, Patrick            Re-enlisted and served to war's end.

 

O'Donnell, John                    Transferred to 1st U.S. Cavalry, Oct. 1862.

 

Privates Andrew Conaghan, Dennis Brislin, and Patrick Hanlin, members of this company, were transferred to Company F., “Bucktail” Regiment, where their record is given.  They were all killed.
