COMPANY I

 

Burnham, Horace B.           Colonel

Commissioned Lieutenant Colonel of the 67th Reg. on Aug. 12, 1861.

Participated with and most the time commanded his regiment until Jan. 1864, when, having

become incapable of further duty in the field, he was ordered to Washington, DC. 

On the expiration of his term of service, he was appointed by president Lincoln,

Major and Judge Advocate US Army, in the Department of New Mexico. 

On March 13, 1865, he received two promotions, by brevet,

conferring upon him the rank of Colonel,

"for faithful and meritorious services,

during the war."

 

Simpson, George W.           1st Lieutenant

Commissioned Sept. 24, 1861.  Captured at Winchester, June 15, 1863.

Remained a prisoner of war until March 1865, part of which time he was, with a number of other prisoners, placed under fire of Union guns, at Charleston, SC.

Enlisted Nov., 1861, re-enlisted Jan. 1864.  Served to the end of the war.
