  • The Carmack DNA surname project was initiated with Family Tree DNA

• October 16, 2003
  • The first three participants received test results!
  • Two participants matched exactly indicating an ancestor relationship between their gg grandfathers:   Samuel B. Carmack born 1808 and Fredrick Carmack born 1841/45 share a common ancestor (we now know they are related!) This does not mean they are brothers.  This is great news as we do not have direct evidence as yet to show their lineage.

  • Another participant received test results!
  • Two participants matched exactly indicating an ancestor relationship.  It looks like both of these participants trace back to Cornelius Carmack born 1681.
  • We now have 2 distinct Family Groups

  • Two participants placed their order to upgrade their tests
    • ID 12705 from 12 markers to 25 markers
    • ID 14738 from 25 markers to 37 markers
  • New participant, ID 43777, ordered a test kit
• October 2005
  • Participant 14738 received their 25-to-37 marker upgrade test results.
  • Participant 12705 received their 12-to-25 marker upgrade test results.
  • New Participant joined and placed an order for the 35 marker test.
• November 2005
  • Participant 43777 received their 25 marker test results.
  • Participant 43778 received their 25 marker test results.
  • The test results from 43777/8 (Levi M. Carmack Descendants) do not match with Cornelius more research needed to determine why.
• December 2005
  • Participant 45925 received their 25 marker test results.  This participant traces back to NJ.
  • Participant N17983 received their 25 marker test results.  This is the 1st non-Carmack spelling project member (McCormack).
