286WESTON – Paul businger, 76, Walnut Street, died Wednesday at his home.
Businger was a lifetime resident of Weston, where he owned and operated the Businger Hardware Store for over 50 years. He graduated from Weston High School in 1935, and attended Bowling Green State University, where he was in the band and glee club.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and served in the 9th Depot Repair Squadron as a master sergeant.
Businger also was a ham operator for 40 years with the call letters W8QZK.
He was a member of Weston United Methodist Church and Weston American Legion Post 409.
He was born April 7, 1918, in Weston, to Jacob A. and Florence (Holzhauer) Businger. He married Helen Sly on Oct. 31, 1946. She died Jan. 19, 1990.
Surviving are a son, Jay, Weston; two daughters, Ruby Greer, Willard, and Paula Businger, Powell, Wyo.; a stepdaughter Chloetta "Dode" Lininger, Van Wert; two brothers, Carl, Bowling Green, and Fred, McClure; two sisters, Grace Erven, Grand Rapids, and Joyce Stearns, Bowling Green; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby, on Aug. 28, 1962.
The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Loomis-Hanneman Funeral Home, Weston. Burial will be in Weston Cemetery. Rev. Mary Fran Gibson will officiate.
Visitation is Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
