1920 Census lists her last name as “Sweet” and as a step-daughter to Sanford.
100Looked for her birth record in both the “Birth Certificates, 1800 - 1939” (F 1871893) and “Vital Records: birth records, 1867 - 1909” (F 422271) and did not find it. I wonder if she was born in Wood County, or if she was registered as a “Sly”?

190DAUGHTER OF MR. AND MRS. SLY DIED AT TUCSON
Mrs. Alice Bierman, aged 28, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Sly of this place, passed away at her home in Tucson Tuesday afternoon, after a lingering illness.
Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sly went over to Tucson and spent the day with her last Sunday, and although she was in a weakend condition, they did not realize the end was so near. They returned Sunday night and Monday received word that she was very low. Mrs. Sly returned immediately to her daughter’s bedside and was with her during her last hours.
Mr. and Mrs. Sly and son Billy came here a few years ago From Bowling Green, Ohio, with Alice hoping the climate of sunny southern Arizona would benefit her, and for a time it was believed she had completely regained her health.
She was later married to Mr. C. C. Bierman and has since made her home in Tucson. About a year ago Mrs. Bierman suffered a siege of pneumonia from which she never fully recovered.
Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Bierman is survived by her brother Billy of Buckeye and two sisters, Mrs. Clarence Baker, and Mrs. Osborn Lashway, both of Bowling Green, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at Tucson.
The sympathy of the community is with the bereaved ones in their hour of sorrow.

Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Sly and son Billie, Mesdames Nellie Long and W. A. Latham and Miss Nell Long returned Saturday night from Tucson where they attended funeral services for Mrs. C. C. Bierman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sly.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Cartright of that place, and interment made in the Masonic cemetery. A profusion of beautiful flowers were contributed by friends of the departed one and of the husband and family.

Mrs. C. C. Bierman, wife of the national rehabilitation officer of the Disabled American Veterans of the World War, died yesterday in St. Mary’s hospital after an illness of several years.
Her husband was on his way back to Tucson from the D. A. V. convention at Grand Rapids, Mich. Word was sent to a brother in St. Louis where Bierman was expected to stop.
Mrs. Bierman’s mother came here from Buckeye to be with her daughter at her death. Bring’s funeral home has charge of the arrangements.

The Rev. C. L. Cartwright will conduct funeral services for Mrs. Alice Irene Bierman at 4 p.m. today in the chapel of Bring’s funeral hom. Mrs. Bierman, wife of Nation Rehabilitation Officer C. C. Bierman of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, died in a Tucson hospital last Tuesday.
Her husband arrived Thursday night from a VFW convention at Grand Rapids, Mich. He learned of Mrs. Bierman’s death in St. Louis.
Mrs. Bierman, a Tucsonan four years, leaves her husband; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Sly; and a brother, William Sly of Buckeye, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Lashuay of Weston, O., and Mrs. Clarence Green, of Bowling Green, O.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Adams will have charge of music during the services. Pallbearers will be Adams, William Burns, M. R. McDaniel, Dr. J. L. Arntzen, Thomas Fergusen and Howard Decker.
Mrs. Bierman will be buried in the Masonic Cemetery.

187Former B.G. Girl Dies in Tucson
News of the death of Mrs. C. C. Bierman, 30, at Tucson, Ariz., reached Bowling Green friends this morning. She was the former Alice Sly and went to the southwest for the benefit of her health about four years ago.
Mrs. Bierman was born and reared in Bowling Green, attended the schools here and was graduated from the local High School. After attending business college in Toledo she was employed in the offices of the H. J. Heinz Co., until forced to leave because of ill health.
Funeral and burial will be in Arizona.
