Funeral Service is Held Saturday for Sanford Sly

Funeral services for Sanford L. Sly, a Buckeye resident since 1933, were held Saturday morning at the Buckeye Funeral Home chapel with interment following at the Louis B. Hazelton Memorial Cemetery.

Officers of Elks Lodge 3089 officiated at the services.

Mr. Sly, 74, died last Wednesday in a Phoenix hospital where he was taken after suffering a heart attack at his home, 112 S. Fifth St.

A native of Bowling Green, O., he came to Arizona in 1933, settling first at Tucson but moving to Buckeye later that same year.

He was a county highway foreman when he retired 12 years ago.

He is survived by his widow, Lucie; their son, William Sly who operates the Buckeye Home Supply Co.; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Businger and Mrs. Clarence Baker, both of Weston, O.; 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Sanford L. Sly, 77, Buckeye, Ariz., a former resident of Bowling Green and Rudolph, died at 9 p.m. Wednesday in Maryvalle Hospital, Phoenix, Ariz.

Born June 28, 1884 in Bowling Green, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Sly (Ada Avery). Mr. Sly was a former employee of the State Highway Department at Bowling Green and a former grain elevator worker in Rudolph.

Survivors in this area are two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Helen) Businger and Mrs. Clarence (Marie) Baker, both of Weston, and two sisters, Mrs. Coy Baumgardner and Mrs. Cash Elder, both of Bloomdale.

Other survivors include his wife, a son, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A daughter is deceased.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Buckeye Funeral Home, Buckeye.
