Roman emperors 253 - 578 AD
After the god-begotten Severus dynasty was murdered it was difficult to get the same reputation again for the emperor. After that most of the emperors were elected by the army and soon they split the reign. This is a list of emperors in the heydays of the Heruli.

But first this.Emperor Augustus presented himself as god-begotten and "stand-in" for Jupiter and here naked as the god. On this brooch he is surrounded by deities Italia, Neptun, Roma, Victoria holds the Victory over his head Jupiter's Sun-Eagle is under the chair. He uses the shield of the fallen enemy as footstool. At left Tiberius steps down from the battle wagon telling that he has brought new provinces to the empire
He was skilled as propaganda maker introducing himself as the provider of all good things. It worked as long as everything grow, but soon they learned that even emperors could fall and so his "Eagles", i.e. the standards of the Roman legions. In Teutoburgerwald the Germans taught the Romans a lesson.
