Fenland Museum WebsiteParish Registers & Archives The Museum is designated a parochial record office and now holds the registers for 28 parishes in and around Wisbech, both in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, and also the burial registers for the Leverington Road Cemetry in Wisbech. Many of the parishes have also deposited material from their parish chest. These include vestry minutes and accounts, poor law records, surveyors of the highways, tithe distribution and enclosure acts. The Museum also holds Manorial and land records for Wisbech and some surrounding parishes. The Map Collection covers some local estates, tithe and enclosure awards, drainage and turnpike acts. The Museum Library has a Local History section with a subject index listing the Acts of Parliament relating to local tolls and land drainage. The Library also includes some poll books and local trade directories. Parish Registers held:

The Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. (4 p.m. from 1 October-31 March) Research & Charges: If you wish to do research at the Museum, booking is essential as space is limited. A charge is made for personal research in the parish registers ~ this includes original records, microfilm copies and indexes. Contact the Museum direct for current charges. The Museum also provides a limited research service into parish registers - again contact them for current rates. This money is used exclusively for conservation of the parish registers and other archives.
