George Gabriel SCOTT



        George Gabriel SCOTT, 9th child and 4th son of  John & Sarah SCOTT, was born in the Dec. Qtr of 1857 probably at Lots Bridge, Three Holes, nr. Upwell.  

        On 9 Nov 1892, George married Anne Elizabeth MEANS at St. Clement's Church Outwell.
        Anne was the daughter of Nailor and Ann MEANS of Outwell. The witnesses were Anne's elder brother, James, and her sister, Jessie Maud.  
        N.B.  Anne's father, Nailor was a younger brother of Eliza Jane MEANS who married William Walton CAWTHORN.

        Unfortunately,  Ann died, childless, in 1900, aged 30. Her headstone stands next to her in-laws in St. Peter's Churchyard, Upwell. 

        In 1902, George married again, to Mary Elizabeth TURNER, daughter of Mark TURNER & Harriet BREEZE of Christchurch.

        They had two children:
John Edward (Eddie) born 1904 died after a motorbike accident in 1925
Dorothy born 1908 . .

George died in 1912, aged 55. He is buried in St. Peter's Churchyard, Upwell. 25 April 1914, Elizabeth (as she was known) was involved in a horrific accident with the Wisbech to Upwell steam tram. She survived her horrific injuries and lived for another 20 years. She died in 1935, aged 66 years. She is buried with her husband in St. Peter's Churchyard, Upwell; not too far from the grave of their son, Eddie who was killed in a motobike accident in the Halfpenny Toll in 1925.
