LITTLETON (West) is a parish and village in Chipping Sodbury union, containing by the census of 1861, 120, and in 1871, 116 inhabitants, and 1009 acres; in the deanery of Hawkesbury, archdeaconry of Bristol, diocese of Gloucester and Bristol, hundred of Grumbalds Ash, West Gloucestershire; 2 miles north from Marshfield, 7 south-east from Yate Station on the Bristol and Birmingham Railway, 9 north from Bath, 6 south-east from Chipping Sodbury, 12 west from Chippenham, and 105 from London. The living is annexed to the rectory of Tormarton. The church, which is a chapel-of-ease to Tormarton, was rebuilt and enlarged in 1855, it consists of nave and chancel, with bell turret and spire rising from the eastern gable. There is a school for children of both sexes. The poor have charitable bequests producing £9 per annum. The Duke of Beaufort is lord of the manor.Trades and Professions
