Near the close of the Sixteenth Century, two Bennett brothers movedfrom Berkshire to London, England. One was an adherent to the Crown,but the other, Edward, desiring greater liberty, took his wife andfour children (Samuel, John, Priscilla, Edward) to Weymouth and setsail for America.
It is not known when Edward arrived in Massachusetts, but he was madea Freeman in 1636, at Weymouth, MA, and later became a proprietor andhelped found Rehoboth, MA. He died in 1645 or 1646 and is buried inthe Proprietors Cemetery at Rehoboth.

[4266] Edward sailed in the James from Weymouth, England in 1635 with hiswife and four children and settled on 36 acres at Weymouth, MA, wherehe was made a freeman by the Boston General Court by 25 May 1636
