[3904] Deacon Loring apparently had no quarrel with the church in England.He came here and joined the church colony at Hingham, which had comefrom Hingham, Norfolk, under the lead of an Independent minister, Rev.Robert Peck.

He was admitted freeman on 3 Mar 1635-6 and had already established ahome lot near the corner of Town and Ship Streets (names current in1917). He became the proprietor of other lots at later times. He was afarmer and an innkeeper licensed by the General Court in March 1637.

A fire destroyed his house 15 March 1645-6. Instead of rebuilding, hebought property in the adjoining plantation of Hull and took aprominent place there. He was constable. He joined with some of hisneighbors and others in taking stock in a new plantation, "Sickonke,"afterward called Seakonk and Rehoboth; but he did not move there orkeep his property there. 30 May 1660 he bought from Thomas Chaffe ahouse, orchard and two home lots in Hull..."John Loring on the southeast, William Chamberlaine on the North west, Towne street on theSouth west and Duck Lane on the North east". The purchase alsoincluded extensive other property.

His sons, Thomas and John had lands in Hull.

[3910] On 15 Mar 1645/46 his house in Hingham was destroyed by fire. Hesubsequently removed to Hull where he died intestate.

[3908] He came with his wife, Jane, and sons Thomas and John. He resided atDorchester, MA for a short time before coming to Hingham.
