[32] When Meadora was 4 years old her mother died. Her father sent her fromSouth Dakota to Chicago to be raised by Emerson and Lucy (Morse)Patten (her father's aunt). Her birth certificate shows her name asMedora, but she later changed it to Meadora. As a young woman she usedthe surname Patten.

[34] She was at the Hinsdale Sanatarium following a stroke.

[9336] Paul and Meadora met at a church box social where all the young womenpacked and decorated box lunches for two. Paul picked the box Grandmabrought and that was the beginning of their courtship.

They were married in the home of friends, Emma and Thor Erickson by J.P. Andersen, a Minister of the Gospel.

Both familieswere close to the Harringtons and the name Josiah was common in thosetwo families. (Eddy, p. 38). Some say his wife was Lydia Cranston, butI am told this has been disproved.
