He started farming on the family homestead and eventually bought out
the other members of the family. He lived there the rest of his life.
He was a staunch Democrat and served his community as supervisor,
school director, and tax collector for many years. He was a member of
the Methodist Church and was buried in the Hopewell Cemetery.
