GLORIA MAE OLIVER & GEORGE WILLIAM BRYAN
My Parents

Gloria Mae Oliver was born May 20, 1927 in Zumbro Falls, MN, the daughter of Frances M. Watson and George Forbes Oliver . The first nine years of her life were spent in Zumbro Falls and Lake City until she moved in 1936 with her parents and siblings to 18th and Elliott Ave. South in Minneapolis. Gloria graduated from South High School with the Class of 1944.

In 1943, Gloria met a young man by the name of George Bryan ("Joe") and they were married in Memphis, Tennessee in 1945, where George was stationed in the US Navy. Gloria returned home to Mpls. after the wedding until George finished his Navy tour and returned to Mpls. in 1946. After a brief stay in Moose Lake, MN they settled down in Brooklyn Center, MN and raised three children.

George and Gloria purchased a lake home in 1968 in Nisswa, MN, a resort town in northern Minnesota, moved there permanently in 1972 and owned and operated Bryan Equipment until 1987, when they sold the company and retired permanently. After Grandma Frances died in 1979, George Forbes Oliver lived with George & Gloria until he died in 1982. George Bryan died in 1990 and Gloria remains living in Nisswa and working part-time at Herbergers Department Store.
