8. Margaret2 HUNT COX (Sarah1) was born in Upson County, Ga. 10 JAN 1809. Margaret died 6 FEB 1889 in Upson County, Ga., at 80 years of age. Buried at Martin's Church at age 80 years and 27 days.

She married Anderson COX in Baldwin County, Ga., 17 MAR 1829. The marriage was authorized (licensed) by R.A. Greene, C.C.O.

Anderson was born in Upson County, Ga. 1810. He was the son of Susan COX. Anderson died 25 FEB 1883 in Upson County, Ga.. The family Bible notes he was buried at Martin Church at age 73 years.

Anderson Cox was the head of a family on the 1850 Census in Upson County, Ga. Anderson, 40, and Margaret Cox, 41, lived in District 86 in Upson County, Ga. He was an overseer and owned $250 in real estate. He and his wife were literate and had been married more than a year, but none of the children had been to school in the past year. No one was disabled. The census did not give place of birth. Children listed included William, 20, illegible occupation looks like "Elle;" Joseph, 18, a laborer; John A., 17, no occupation given (he also was listed as age 16 as an overseer in the household of Raleigh Green. See John's own file for full information); Eliza J., 9; and Oliver J., 7.

He is listed on the 1860 census: p. 659, Thomaston P.O. Other Coxes listed on the 1860 Upson County census include H.F. Cox, p. 662 (the same initials as one of W.H.'s children); Gain Cox, p. 600; Sherman Cox, p. 609; and M. Cox, p. 562. All were Thomaston P.O. A Mary Cox, 1773-1845, is buried at Antioch (Church?) in Taylor County.

Anderson was divorced from Margaret HUNT Cox in Upson County, Ga., bef 1870. Possible other children of Anderson and Margaret Cox are Savannah and Samuel. Notations in family Bible below Savannah's name: Samelheus; Saunelherresorn Cox; Saunnelherralsoza Cox. Unintelligible mess below William (four lines).

Margaret was the head of a family on the 1870 Census in Upson County, Ga. Margaret's household included Julia Cox, b. 1849, Andrew Cox, b. 1862, and Dora Cox, 7, b. 1862. These may be children or grandchildren. They were living with son-in-law William Watson, indicating the last names may be wrong.

In 1880 Margaret was living with son-in-law Thomas Jefferson Ellington.

child 13 iii. John Anderson COX was born 10 SEP 1833. John died 14 AUG 1911 in Taylor County, Ga., at 77 years of age. He married Sarah Ann KINGE Cox in Talbot County, Ga., 2 NOV 1854. Sarah was born 1830. Sarah died 7 FEB 1901 in Upson County, Ga.. buried at Friendship (Church?) near Daviston at age 70 years 2 months

John A. Cox was listed in the household of his father Anderson as aged 17; but also was listed in the household of Raleigh Green, 53, farmer, Dist. 86, as a 16-year-old overseer. Farmer Greenr owned $1,500 worth of land and was born in Georgia. The family also included wife Elizabeth, 41, and son John M., a student, and daughter Martha, 16.

child 14 iv. Frances Marion COX was born 28 JUL 1835. Frances died 15 AUG 1837 in Upson County, Ga., at 2 years of age.

child + 15 v. Sarah Elizabeth COX Ellington was born 6 SEP 1837.

child 16 vi. Julia Ann COX Jimmerson was born 28 OCT 1839. She married McDonald JIMMERSON in Upson County, Ga., 12 JAN 1860. McDonald died 31 DEC 1862 in Murfreesboro, Tenn.. From the family Bible: McDonald Jamerson was shot dead at Mufersborough (sic) on the 31st of December 1862.

child 17 vii. Louisa Jane COX Watson was born 31 AUG 1841. She married William WATSON. could be the W.W. Watson,b. July 11, 1845. d. June 11, 1914, CSA, buried in Good Hope Cemetery in Upson County, Ga. Louisa was listed by Jack Morgan as Eliza J.

child 18 viii. Oliver Perry COX was born 31 MAY 1844. Oliver died 21 FEB 1864 in Lake City, Fla., at 19 years of age. From the family Bible: Oliver P. Cox was wounded in Florida on the 20th February and died the 21st 1864 buried at Lake City.
