Grandpa Schueneman went by the name of "Gus." He was a
farmer between 1910 and 1936 in Weesatche, Goliad Co.,
TX.11,12
Grandpa Schueneman died on 26 Feb 1936 in Weesatche, Goliad Co., TX. Gus is buried with the
Schuenemann family, in the graveyard of the St. Andrew's Evangelist Lutheran Church, Weesatche,
Goliad Co., TX where he attended when he was a boy. The family has a copy of the original
death certificate. He was buried on 26 Feb 1936. He went to school at Buzzard Roost
Elementary in Melrose, Goliad Co., TX. He was also known as Gustav Johannes F.
Schuenemann.11
He ran away from home when he was sixteen and worked in the
Shipyards. He was married to Addie Ernstine Caroline ALTMAN on 21 Nov 1911 in Goliad, Goliad Co.,
TX. Their marriage license was obtained on 21 Nov 1911 in Goliad Co., TX. Their marriage license
was issued by R. P. Appleby, Clerk of the County Court, Goliad County, Texas. They were
married the same day Nov 21, 1911 by H. J. Passmore, County Judge.
Doris Lee Schuenemann Lassiter wrote: " Mama & Daddy lived in
Victoria. Uncle John (Altman) moved them by covered wagon. They lived on a rented farm, where
Leon was born. Lived there two years-made two crops. Then they moved to Grandpa Altman's rent
place-lived there two years-that's where Lawrence was born. Then when Lawrence was one year
old (1916)-Daddy bought 88 acres from Otto Becker, built a house and moved on it. Aleen and
Doris born there."

Addie Ernstine Caroline ALTMAN
1 was born on 17 Nov 1891 in Willow Springs, Fayette Co.,
TX.13 She was baptized on 19 Apr 1892 in Willow
Springs, Fayette Co., TX, at Willow Spring Lutheran Church by Pastor Gerstemann. She was
confirmed on 26 Jul 1925 in Weesatche, Goliad Co., TX. Addie's Confirmation Certificate is
written in German. She was confirmed at the St. Andrews Evangelist Lutheran Church in
Weesatche, Texas.
She died on 4 Jun 1982 in San Antonio, Bexar Co., TX. Addie is
buried along side of Gustav J. Schuenemann at St. Andrew's Evangelist Lutheran Church, in
Weesatche, Texas.
1 She was educated 1897 to 1901 in Willow Springs,
Fayette Co., TX, and although she only completed four years of school, she read, wrote and spoke
two langages. Doris L. Schuenemann Lassiter wrote: "Mama went to school in Austin Co, Post
Oak Point or Rock House. She was 17 or 18 when she moved with her parents to Goliad County in
(1909 or 1910)."1

Uncle Leon died on 31 Oct 1991 in San Antonio, Bexar
Co., TX.1 He is buried in Mission Burial Park North,
San Antonio, Bexar Co., TX.1 He was an Electronics
Technician.12 Uncle Leon was a self taught man.
He could speak at least three languages, German, Spanish and English. He learned anything he
wanted to learn on his own. Mother always told the story of Uncle Leon telling that someday
they would invent boxes that had sound and pictures, long before the TV. Uncle Leon and Aunt
Annie had a TV set long before their neighbors. It was a small picture, 5" maybe, in a great big
box. I watched many an old western on it. I lived with Aunt Annie and Uncle Leon when I was
in the 4th grade.

Lawrence William SCHUENEMANN was born on 14 Dec 1914 in Melrose, Goliad Co.,
TX.12 He
died on 1 Nov 1993 in Yorktown, DeWitt Co.,
TX.1,12 He is
buried Lutheran Church Graveyard in Weesatche, where Grandpa & Grandma Schueneman are
buried.1
He was of the Lutheran

Aleen Beulah Wilhelmina SCHUENEMANN was born 21 Feb 1920 in Weesatche, Goliad Co., TX and died 3 Nov 2005 College Station, TX. My Aunt Aleen was like a
second mother to me. She was our Girl Scout Leader. We've had so many good times
together.
