He was educated at Coniston Continuation School about 1937 in Coniston, ON, Canada. About 1941 he was an Electrician's Helper in Coniston, ON, Canada. INCO at the Coniston Smelter. He served in the military after September 1942. Royal Canadian Air Force. R/184192. Basic training in Toronto, Ontario. Member of a precision drill team that toured the United States in places like New York, Chicago, Detroit, and Houston where they performed drills of up to 108 movements without a command. Following his return and graduation from basic training he was posted to Centrailia, Ontorio, to take his flight training and to receive his wings. Upon graduation in November 1943, he became an instructor pilot. Following graduation he was posted to #1 Air Observer School at Malton, Ontorio. He died on March 20, 1944 in Gravenhurst, Muskoka, ON, Canada.2141,2142 Killed in an Air Force training exercise. On a navigation exercise and made a slipping turn to the left, making his final approach before landing Anson aircraft #6626 and crashed 300 yards northwest of the airport at Gravenhurst, Ontorio. With him was student pilot and four other students. He and the other pilot were badly injured and were taken to hospital in Orillia. The next day he died of his injuries. He was buried in Sudbury Roman Catholic Cemetery, Sudbury, ON, Canada. His body was returned to Coniston where a full military funeral was held. Funeral officated by first cousin, once removed, Fr. In Canada he became a surveyor and married Teresa who spoke only French. Later he was granted land in the London-Guelph district. He started to walk to obtain his claim and was never heard from again. The family decided that he had fallen victim to the flu epidemic that raged in the Toronto area around 1856. Sons John and Charles lived in the Chicago area. Oconto, Wisconsin is also associated with these men. Son Edward lived in Montreal. He was the sexton of Notre Dame Basilica for most of his life. He served mass in Latin, French and English. He joined a religious community in his youth, but he could not endure the long hours of fasting and prayers.
