I don't know. I had noticed that before in other trees, and it didn't make sense to me. However, my great uncle Eugene Van Gemert (the son of Mabel or Mable) told my father, Michael Roller, that Mabel's mother (Clarissa Niquette) died giving birth. I have Mabel down as the only child...so it must have been on or around her birthdate. Uncle Gene also said that his mother's (Mabel's) grandmother, Julia Frazier (the mother of Clarissa) lived with his family (Mabel, Henry, and kids) for a short time until her own death. I tried contacting my great uncle, who is in his eighties, but he did not respond. She died on April 19, 1937 in Wauwatosa, WI.²⁷³¹ She was buried in DePere, Brown, WI. He died on October 11, 1965 in Worcester, MA.¹⁵²⁶ Died of crushing head injury while dragged to death through an open doorway into the shaft of an upward-moving freight elevator at his job at Imperial Distributors. Operating an old fashioned water pressure driven elevator with a chain pull to release the water pressure and direct the elevator up on the first floor of a four story warehouse, subject was hauling the elevator from the basement to the second floor, where stock boy Mitchell Mendys was waiting to receive it. On each floor were two steel doors that opened up and down. Unknown to the workers, these doors were not supposed to open when the elevator was in operation but they did. Was on the first floor talking with Mitchell Mendys, who went up the stairs next to the elevator. He opened the elevator doors on the first floor, reached in and released the elevator which was in the basement and leaned backward into the path of the elevator from the first floor open doorway into the shaft, yelling a last request to Mitchell who arrived on the second floor as the elevator began to move upward in the shaft. In 2006, Mitchell Mendys reported that he "heard a scream and then a crunching, grinding, sound. The elevator continued to come up until it hit the second floor doors which it caused to open revealing Donalds' body hanging lifeless under the floor platform for some endless seconds until it fell into the pit below." The floor of the elevator caught his head just behind his neck and dragged him 15 feet up the shaft to the second floor. The elevator stopped at the second floor and the body dropped 40 feet into the well of the shaft, all according to police. Family lore has it that the body dropped without the crushed head. He was buried in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner, MA. Section B, Lot #87. He was Roman Catholic in Worcester, MA. St. John's Church. He lived at 12 South St. in Worcester, MA.
