Hello. My surname is Qin as well. I am from Mainland China and now living in Singapore.
As I know, there are not so many Qins in China as Lis or Zhangs, but also not so few. The Qin surname is actually from the name of the country. When Qin dynasty dies, some of its people changes their surnames to Qin in order to memorize their country forever.
