From hear say; that the name JAO is of Chinese origin and that is was brought over to the P.I. by traders. During Spanish rule, the "j" had to be changed to a Spanish sounding letter, Ho-ta in the Spanish alphabet. Anyway, I also hear that the "CO" is also Chinese. It is a combination. Who really knows. At least, anyone with the name is related to other Jaojoco's, at least is it a very very unique name. Sgt. Jaojoco USMC
