I am trying to find anyone that may know about Kwantung and how I might start to find my family on the Chinese side. My great grandfather came to Hawaii with some brothers, while other brothers went to California for the gold rush. Names: Achiu Leong aka Leong Achiu (this is the name he went as in America), Ah Sing Leong, Wah Sun Leong, Sun Fat Leong, Ah Nee Leong. All of them kept LEONG as their surnames but from what I was told in stories, my great grandfathers name was switched around so he went by Leong Achiu in Hawaii. Supposedly when he got on the ship they wrote first names last and last names first and it all got mixed up....help anyone please.....
