For some insight on the origin of Chinese-Filipino names, take a look at the website: http://www.bibingka.com/names/ This website lists "Yamson" among the many Chinese-Filipino surnames and mentioned that many surnames ending in -son and -zon were Chinese-origin families in the Pampanga area who may have retreated there when the Spanish massacred the Chinese in Manila.
