Hi Richard and anyone else who might be able to assist.

I've been following with intrigue the various discussions regarding the Seeto family. I am a Seeto, originally from Madang and know little about my ancestry.

I guess I thought I might have a go and see if anyone might know my roots.

My grandfather's name was Seeto Kun - his christian name was Paul. Apparently he came to New Guinea in 1906 or thereabouts from Canton and is believed to have been an only child. He had 6 children born in Madang - Kam Yuk, Kam Sang, Kam Wong (Ah wong), Kam Lan (Ah lan) and one died during the war. Most of the children spent time in Rabaul at some stage for school at the chinese school.

I am led to believe that he came to New Guinea via Australia on the MV Macdhui, along with numerous other chinese.

One of my aunts (Kam Yuk) now lives in Cairns and she fondly remembers my grandfather's house as being a central point for many of the families in those days.

Maybe one of these families might know something....If anyone out there knows anything at all - I'd be interested in hearing from you.

Questions that are unresolved are:

Was he an only child?
What village in China did he come from?

Cheers
