For your information, the Village Database website has recently been updated to include family clan name(s) in each village in Sun Wui County (as well as Chung Shan). These were added to surnames in villages in Toishan and Hoiping Counties. The website is: http://www.c-c-c.org/villagedb/search.cgi
I have taken a quick look at the website. The Chan/Chin surname has the same Chinese character ��, and there are just over 100 villages in Sun Wui County with the Chan/Chin surname. So, you'll need to do more research in order to narrow your search down to a more defined area.
