Jon,

There are well over 100 Seto ik villages in the vicinity of old Canton. The Village Database lists the names of these villages with Seto surnames in the website: http://www.c-c-c.org/villagedb/search.cgi The website includes villages in Toishan Sun Wui, and Chung Shan as well as Hoiping. Check it out. As you can see nearly all of these villages are located in Hoiping County. So, there is a good possibility that your grandfather may have come from one of these villages in Hoiping. You may want to print the names of these villages out and show it to some of your elders.......it may successfully jar their memories. By the way, if you know where your grandfather is buried, then there is a good chance that the name of the village is inscribed on his tombstone.

Good luck on your genealogical search......

Raymond
