Surname Zhao/Chiu (趙)was the surname of the Song Dynasty which ended when the last prince died just south of your gf's village at a place called Yamen/Ngaaih Muhn (崖門). That historical legacy left a lot of people surnamed Zhao in this area of Xinhui/San Wui (新會).
As for your gf's village of Cixi/Chih Kai (慈溪) it is located just southwest of the country town of Gujing/Gu Jeng (古井)(old well).
The 26 generations to the end of the Song Dynasty sounds correct as it would cover a history of about 800 years.
Jiangmen/Gong Muhn (江門) is now the prefectural city of the five counties of Xinhui (新會), Taishan (太山), Heshan (鶴山), Kaiping (開平) and Enping (恩平).
