Hi Kok Poay, found your query and thought we may be able to assist each other? Loong or Lung as is written in Chinese character Dragon. This is the way our families write the family surname.

My understanding is that the Loongs or Lungs are from Lung Yeuk/Uk/Village, Nantao, Poon, Guangdong Province, now Shenzhen, China/PRC. During the 1930s there was a prosperous Lung Village. I have been tracing the descendants of those from Lung Village.

You have written in English Quandong. Sihui, the village you mention, I need to check my sources. Perhaps, this may have been the original village or another branch of the Loong or Lung descendants?

Hope to hear from you.

Rosetta Kai Sung/Lung

In fact there is a paternal uncle whom when missing during the late 1930s/early 1940s and according to family stories, he went missing in Singapore or Malaysia. (I need to check the given name of the brother.) You mentioned there were quite a number of Loongs or Lungs in Hainan Island. This is intriguing.

I have traced descendants to New Guinea, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand and USA. All raise the story of the unusual family surname and how it is written as Dragon in Chinese character, plus being descendants of a General who was bestowed rewards and the family surname for his service to the Emperor. Further, it's probably during the Qing/Ching Dynasty, several generations back.

There has been several generations down from the children/sons of said General where the different blood lines of families/descendants have generated. So, in all probability, the Loongs or Lungs, if using the written Chinese character of Dragon as the family surname are related and from said Lung Village. Times were indeed tumultous in China, so over generations, there has been quite an emigration to various parts of the world.
