I am from Vancouver, BC. My grandfather and family (the Choys) left Taishan in 1949 for HK. He, with my parents eventually arrived in Calgary and then made it to Vancouver. The BC Royal Cafe was our family's.
This summer I travelled back to Taishan to visit my mother's and father's birthplace in Dajiang.
Hope you all haven't forgotten how to speak Hoisan Vah.
