Good to hear other heung's here.

Sorry but I am not much helpful, as what you know is pretty much what I know. I also want to know more about my family name too.

Cheers,
Tony

: my last name is heung (tone 1: high level/high falling), adj. fragrant.
: i've heard that it's a rare surname.
: i know very little about my paternal (or maternal) family history.
: i would like to hear from other heung's who know something about our family roots.
: also, when i was a kid, i was told that the name heung came from the name cha (tone 4: low falling), verb: to check; to investigate.
: i was told that by taking the bottom stroke from cha and placing it on top, someone down my paternal lineage changed the name to heung.
: does anyone know more about this?
: i'm not sure how well my memory serves me (was it just a dream?).
: i've been wondering for a long time--especially when someone exclaims "whaa... your name is so rare!"
: please contact me by e-mail at the above addresses.
: thanks.
