The name "Forest" or "Woods" shows up as Lum, Lem and Lim in records. There are a number of Lems and Lims in Tucson, Arizona, the families originating in Sun Wui county, Sze Yap district, Canton (Guangdong) Province, mainland China. This was an area of apparently poor farming terrain that frequently was devastated by floods. As a consequence, there was extensive emigration to the U.S., and also apparently Hawaii, as one of Grandfather's "first family" sons went there for work.
