I'm also teochew. Recently, I found out that there are many spellings of it, like chaochow, and most importantly chaozhou. I too don't know much about teochews. All I know is that teochews are centered in the Shantou region of China, very near the Hong Kong area. In recent history (talking about past century), many teochews immigrated all over Southeast Asia. I come from one of those immigrant families. I would like to learn some more info on teochew people. Can anyone share some info with me?
