HI does anyone out there know where the origin of the surname 'TAM' comes from? (This is a cantonese pronciation) and what it means?

It is written with the character to 'speak' to its left with 'west' on the top right and 'early' on the bottm right.

I think my grandparents came from either Toisan or thereabouts during the early part of the 20th century.
