: Does anyone here watch the soap "One Life to Live"? I am really curious about one of my favorite soap actors, Laurence Lau...does he have some Chinese in him? His surname makes me a bit curious.

: Also, my parents are from Trinidad and Tobago. My mom is East Indian and Spanish, and my dad is black, with some East Indian in him as well. We have family members that are Chinese and Spanish (mom's side). Their surnames are Poonaffat and Ahong. Any of you know these surnames?

: I hope anyone here can answer my question about Laurence Lau, though...I am curious.

Judging from the other responses, everyone assumes that Laurence Lau must be German,he can't possibly be Chinese because he doesn't look like it right? Not so. A long time ago I happened to see Laurence Lau, who I didn't know because I don't watch soap operas, in a picture with his father. I was struck by how much his dad looked like mine, who happened to be Chinese (Father) and Portugese (Mother). It looked to me like his father had a little Chinese mixed in from somewhere back, so it may be diluted. But my dad's father was pure Chinese, and my dad looked Portugese as well as Chinese. So Lau just very well may be a Chinese name from a ways back. Whoopi Goldberg doesn't look Chinese, either, but she maintains that she does have it.
