I worked as an English teacher in Meizhou for almost two years. As a matter of fact If I am reading
the name of that town correctly I rode my bicycle to Yausang on several occasions. Many of my
students come from that town(It was only thiry kilometers from my school) While I don't know any one
by that name my students might. If you could send the name to me in chinese characters I would gladly
ask my students and get more information to you. Yau sang is a small villaga and I'm sure one of t
here Grandparents would know something.
: I am researching my wife's family surname. The Manderin English spelling is Chui, but her father says the Hakka English spelling is Hew (with a strong "H" sound. Her ancestors came from the Guangdong Prov. in a town called Meizhou or Mei-Xian, in a district called Yau-Sung. Her grandfather left with his 3 brothers and her father to Thailand in 1949. I want to learn more about her ancestors and their desendants. Mostly for our children. I do family research on my many families, but I am just now learning about the Chiu family history.
