I am trying to work on my family history. According to records available, our first ancestor from Canton, China was "William Gee" (later Ghea). His parents are recorded as John Wong Sing (merchant) and Ah Houn on his marriage certificate. He immigrated to Maryborough, Queensland, Australia in approximately 1860 then later moved to Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. One of our late great aunts used to say that if we returned to China we would be treated like princes and princesses making me wonder if there could have been some royal blood??? I don't doubt that William came during the goldrush. If you can help, please do.
