I am trying to trace relatives of my great-grandfather. His name was Xu le ban and he left China as a young man and worked as a chef on board ships for about 10years.He arrived in South Africa in 1895 and got married in 1899. He came from Huian Canton and was given the name of Alfond Alfred. I a have a photograph of him taken when he was about 25years old .
