I spent the last year and a half in meixian while I don't know any hakka or mandarin I keep in touch with many people there. I don't think I can help you with those town names though I will try. I don't suppose you know what the characters look like?

: : : 1.My surname is hsiao, hakka. My grandfather was born in china during AD 1900, at canton province, and migrated to Thailand during the second world war. I want to know exactly, where it is. I was found grandfather's passport wrote that "The birthplace is Kayin and/or moiyan district (or Boiyan district-not sure)" So, I would like to know about this place, where it is, how may people in their, what kind of village look like.

: : I think the current spelling is Mei Xian. It is on the border between the two provinces, Guangdong & Fujian. And it has a very large Hakka population.
