: : : I am looking for the origin of YAP surname because my grandfather is surnamed YAP and he was supposed to have come from Amoy, China. His name is Yap Chui Lian.

: : Hi Roselle, are you looking up your family roots? My last name is Yap also. We are of Hakka origin. My grandfather's name is Yap Young. His Chinese name is Jhun Jeuk. He came from a village in China called Loong Boi Liang -"Dragon Back Ridge" and immigrated to the West Indies. As I understand it, the "first member" of my Yap family came from an area in the Province of Fu Kien, China. ???? What type of information do you have on the Yaps?

: My wife's last name is Yap and she's from the Philippines near Quezon City. She said all the Yaps in her family are Hokkiens, she's not sure of any hakka's in her family. Does anyone have any information of the ancient history of the Yap family? Thanks!

Hi everybody!
My name is Julie. I'm a Yap too. My grandfather is Yap Kie Han and he was born in Indonesia. His whole family lived there. His father was a famous docter that build a hospital there. I don't really know much about my family, but it would be great if I could get contact with some relatives. Hope I'll get some anwers soon!!!
