I am a fluent Chiu Chow speaker and like many of you, I am also curious about our origin. Amazingly, Chiu Chow people are all around the world. The migration to IndoChina might be because of famine(I'll have to ask my grandfather)but there was also a massive migration across the globe during the Vietnam War. My grandfather migrated to Cambodia when he was young and he lived in a community populated with Chiu Chow people. During the Vietnam War, my family came to America and concieved me. What is ironic is that the rest of my family went to other nations(New Zealand, Australia, France and other parts of United States). It is nice to know that people out there are as curious as I am. I am afraid that after my generation, Chiu Chow will end for my family. Like many other families who live in a non-speaking chinese nation, they too will inevitably lose their comprehension of the Chiu Chow lanuage. OH, plow...i didn't know that someone actually made a rap song in Chiu Chow. My cousin was thinking about doing that. I guess he was too late.
