Hi Fellow Chiu Chow people!
As far as I know, my great-grand parents are from the Guangdong Province. During the 1920's, my grandparents migrated to Cambodia (there was a diaspora because of famine & revolutionary war). During 1975-1979, the Pol Pot regime (Khmer Rouge) took over Cambodia and intended to implement radical Communist reforms. It failed miserably at the cost of over 2 million lives. Fortunately, my parents survived and were accepted as refugees - relocated in Los Angeles. In Chinatown, LA - there is a large population of Chiu-Chow people.
I was hoping to do my senior thesis on finding the origins of my chiu-chow ancestry, but such information is limited to dialogue.
