Hi Debbie
Bartholomew Wong Poo was born in Canton China in 1841, he married Emma Jane Richards on the 2nd December 1877 at Echuca Victoria. He died at Beechworth Victoria on the 29th February 1912 and was buried at the Beechworth Cemetery on the 2nd March 1912. I have both his marriage and death certificates, also Emmas birth and death certificate. Emma was born on the 27 Dec 1850 at Plymouth Devonshire and Christened at Ludgvan Cornwall on the 25 January 1852. she died on the 10 June 1942 and was buried at the Beechworth Cemetery on the 12 June 1942. Bartholomew and Emma had six children that I know of, namely Elizabeth May, Arthur Bartholomew 1879-8 January 1944, James Albert 1881-7 June 1970, Emma Jocelyn 1886- ?, Richard Wesley 19 May 1888- ? and William Thomas 4 January 1891-25 October 1931. The Poo was dropped from their name and was reduced to Wong. Emma Jane Richards was the elder sister of my great grandmother Elizabeth Richards, they and their parents and siblings had migrated to Australia as assisted passengers on the sailing ship THETIS which departed Plymouth England on the 20th May 1854 and arrived at the port of Adelaide South Australia on the 4th September 1854. So as you can see this is the person you are looking for, I did find him listed as a missionary in Tasmania.
Hope to hear from you
Len Hill, Heidelberg Victoria Australia
