My surname is spelt CHIN but the Chinese character is QIN (same as that of Qin Shihuangdi, the first emperor of China). My father was born in Guiping, Guangxi Province in China but emigrated to Malaysia in the 1930's. He was an only child, so I do not know of any relatives in China. But he told me before he passed away that my grandfather was a salt merchant.
Is there anyone else on this message board who has the Qin surname and have forbears originating from the same area of Guangxi Province?
