Forgot to mention that the Vietnamese surname for Fan is Phan, not Pham.


: Disregard Al Chinn's follow-up. It is simply incorrect. According to the Hundred Families Surnames in both Mandarin Chinese and Vietnamese, if PHAM is spelled with a dot under the A for tone, then the corresponding Mandarin equivalent is FAN with 4th tone.
