Just got your response after all this time! I have (half) Filipino relations who always tell me that the name means "father", but here's the stickler: My fathers ancesters weren't Filipino- The last two generations of his family lived in Hungary. Several maiden-names in the family tree are Chinese (yi-ending names!) but the Tatay part is baffling! Apart from being told that it's a central Aian name, I have no idea!!!
