Looi sounds like my last name, but it is Louie, in Cantonese as well. It means "thunder," and other ways of spelling it are Lui, Luey, Loui, and in Mandarin it is Lei2. If anyone reading this is from Canton, let's see if we're related. My family currently resides in San Francisco, CA. My grandfather came over with a wife and two children. By the time the children were about 20, he had two more (one being my dad). (now family has 3 boys and one girl). After his first wife died he went back to China and found another wife, when another son was born in SF. Now, two sons and the daughter live in SF, the stepson last heard of in NY or NJ, and the eldest son passed away with his family residing in Monterey Park near Los Angeles, CA. Anyone know anything about this? Thank you.

: Can anyone tell me more about the origin of the
: "Looi" (cantonese) surname. Thanks.
