thanks for the info. i've checked on that and traced the history and origins on most surnames and what surnames came from the same prefecture.
as far as i know, my family has been known as chin and has never been chin young. we are hakka people (our dialect, ke-jia-ren in Mandarin). maybe chin young is another surname. do u know how to write that in chinese? i'll check on that.
