First of all I am not a Yap. But I would just like to share my experience of looking for my relatives in China, maybe it would help you guys. I found my relatives in a village in Jinjiang two years ago. I wrote to my grandfather's sister (whom I know to be dead already) with only the village name as the address. I've heard from my old neighbor that people at Chinese villages really know everyone in their vacinity. Anyways, it worked! And now I have contact with my cousins there and my sister was able to visit my grandfather's hometown just this may.

I suggest you go to the family association of the Yaps here in the Philippines. These associations usually are situated near Chinatown-Divisoria. If you can't find it just ask around the area for the nearest family assoc and they usually have addresses of other family assoc. Then when you are at the Yap Assoc. ask for the Chinese characters of Guchin, Amoy, China and Yan Bun Yee...( and if you like you can ask if your grandfather was a member of the assoc...that is, if he is in their records). For more questions just email me...ok. Bye!
