If you're surname is Tan and it is Chen in Mandarin then your dialect isn't Mandarin. Tan is the Fujian and Teochew way of pronouncing the Mandarine Chen and the Cantonese Chan.
Do you happen to be from Malaysia or Singapore? Many Tans there are Chens. The Mandarin Tan is the Cantonese Tam.
