My last name comes from the Fu Zhou dialect.
It is much the same as Lin.
I believe that this informational site that you have
set up is extremely beneficial to the Chinese who are not
aware of their background.
My last name originates from a time when the ancestor
angered the emperor who wished to do away with their
clan, so he ordered them, the LIng, all to be killed,
but the mother, who had twins, saved them by hiding
them in the woods, thus their names were begun!
